Day 1: Trek Through the Ancient Rain Forest to Sine Camp
Your journey begins at the Kilembe Trailhead at 1,450 meters above sea level which is the Trekker’s hostel. The trail gradually climbs through the Afro-Montane Forest, where towering trees create a cool and peaceful environment. Sunlight filters through the canopy while birds sing from every direction, creating a magical introduction to the mountains.
The forest is home to an impressive variety of wildlife. Blue monkeys are frequently seen moving through the trees, while black-and-white colobus monkeys leap effortlessly between branches high above the trail. On rare occasions, hikers may spot the elusive L’Hoest’s monkey or hear the distant calls of wild chimpanzees echoing through the forest.

Further downstream lies Nyamwamba Falls, one of the largest waterfalls on the route. Dropping approximately 52 meters into a deep natural pool, it is a true highlight of the trek and an exceptional location for photography.
