Your adventure begins at Trekkers Hostel in Kyanjuki, Kilembe, located at an altitude of 1,450 meters above sea level and approximately 12 kilometers from Kasese Town. Most trekkers begin their hike around 9:00 am, although a later departure is still possible.
The first section of the trail follows a gentle route to the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger station situated at 1,727 meters. Here, hikers complete registration formalities, pay park entrance fees, and receive a briefing about safety procedures and conservation guidelines within the national park.
After leaving the ranger post, the trail enters the beautiful Afro-Montane Forest Zone. Towering trees provide shade along much of the route while moss-covered vines drape from branches above. The forest is alive with birdsong, making this section particularly enjoyable for nature lovers.
Wildlife sightings are often among the highlights of the day. Blue monkeys are frequently spotted moving through the forest canopy, while groups of black-and-white colobus monkeys can occasionally be seen leaping gracefully between trees. As the trail approaches the summit area, the terrain becomes steeper and more rugged. Rocky sections require careful movement, especially during periods when snow or ice may be present. Depending on conditions, guides may use ropes to ensure safe passage through certain areas.
Reaching Weismann Peak at approximately 4,620 meters is a truly rewarding experience. A lunch stop is usually made at Forest View Camp before the final descent continues toward the park gate and eventually back to Trekkers Hostel in Kilembe.
